FAQ's

Do you supply residential shades and can you give me an estimate over the phone?
Yes, we can install shades and awnings at your home. All of our shades and awnings are custom made so it can be difficult to provide you with an accurate cost without visiting the property. We like to ensure that you are offered the best shade solution, one that is safe, long lasting and meets your needs.

Can the shade sail be attached to a house or building?
In some cases yes, however there needs to be careful consideration for what the proposed attachment is made of. Our technicians will be able to recommend if it is appropriate or not, and suggest alternative options if required. Due to the amount of load which is placed on the attachments, it is crucially important that it can handle all wind conditions.

How long does it take to have a shade installed?
Depending on the type of shade you require will determine the time it takes to have your shade in place. Retractable or fixed awnings, drop down screens and sandpit covers are fairly straight forward as there is no need for posts to be installed. Once we receive confirmation of the order and a 50% deposit is paid, we can start the manufacture straight away and have it installed within 2-3 weeks.

Shade structures and sails can take a little more time. In some cases a Council permit is required, depending on the size or height of the shade unit, which can take up to three weeks to be approved. Generally, once we have received your confirmation for the shade and 50% deposit, we will order the posts and arrange installation. As soon as the posts are in we confirm the measurements and begin manufacturing of the shade, which depending on the season, can take between 2-3 weeks. Installation will be arranged as soon as the shade is ready, and at a convenient time for you.

Please remember the peak season for shade is during December and January, and it can take an additional 2-3 weeks than expected. Get in early to make sure you are well covered before the hot sun hits, and avoid disappointment.

How long will my shade sail last?
Some shade sails will last up to 10 years, and sometimes even longer depending on the conditions it needs to withstand. It’s a good idea to clean the sail perhaps once a year using a very light water-blaster, but we do not recommend you to use any harsh or abrasive cleaning products.

Does the shade sail have to come down in winter?
No, you can leave your shade up all year round. However, some schools and learning centers choose to have their sail taken down during winter months, which can also prolong the life of the shade sail. We can arrange for a technician to come and do this for you, and also book in to have them put up again.

Are the shade sails 100% waterproof?
Not all the fabrics we use are 100% waterproof, however we can offer a PVC option which will block out the sun and rain. The mesh fabric shade sails are generally made from will keep off rain from light to medium showers; however a fine mist may seep through during more heavy rain.
